hey, it's me, heather.

I believe nutrition is an underrated superpower that impacts all aspects of life. I think it is completely amazing and satisfying to see someone get better when nutrition is addressed. I LOVE seeing that happen! It is what drives my desire to keep learning more about nutrition so that I can keep helping people.

My journey into the specialty of gut health began with a case of fibromyalgia. That case was my mom, who had suffered with fibromyalgia for 30+ years.

With my B.S. in Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science, and M.S. degree in Dietetics, and years of work and study in the field of nutrition, surely, I could find some way to help my mom find some relief.

Together we decided to try the Low FODMAP Diet in addition to vitamin D supplementation, elimination of aspartame, and a reduction in added sugar.

It worked.

For the first time in 35 years my mom has less pain, without the need for heavy pain meds. She sleeps more at night than she has in 35 years. She doesn’t have to go to the doctor as much. She goes swimming for exercise, something she would never do before because it hurt too much. Her quality of life is better.

Through helping my mom, I gained experience with the Low FODMAP Diet, a nutrition therapy commonly used for IBS. With this experience, I decided to start helping patients with IBS who were struggling to know what to eat.

Through my experience in helping these patients over the last 5 years, I have learned that not every patient with gut symptoms has IBS and the low FODMAP diet isn't the answer for everyone. That's why I focus on identifying the unique factors contributing to each person's symptoms and creating an individualized nutrition plan that works for their body.

I have continued to learn how to identify other conditions that might be causing gut symptoms and have learned different interventions that can help.

I want you to experience the excitement, relief and joy that comes when nutrition works.

I want to help you. Let's do it together.

on a more personal note

It seems there is never a dull moment in my life. There is always something going on from severe Wyoming weather, wildlife sightings in the yard, adventures in the mountains, to simply the day-to-day activities of being a mother, which I love and would not trade for anything.

I enjoy a good hike with my husband and daughters, taking it easy by the river fishing, sitting in the sunshine, and learning a new song on the piano. I also spend a fair bit of time serving as a follower of Jesus Christ. I came across this scripture in my personal study and it became the base for my practice. It is my hope for you,

“I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health” 3 John 1:2
